Description

Occurrence data from specimens housed in the Triplehorn Insect Collection at The Ohio State University. Data capture is an ongoing process. To date the greatest effort has focused on the orders Hymenoptera and Coleoptera. Specimens in the collection come from around the world, but the traditional geographical emphasis has been on the Midwestern and Southwestern United States.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 661,606 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. Specimens come from around the world. Historically, the emphasis has been on insects from the Midwestern and Southwestern United States.

The collection houses specimens of all orders of insects. The particular strengths are in the orders Coleoptera, Hemiptera, and Hymenoptera.
